CURRENT PUBLIC SIGNAL
What we know now
Fluidstack says construction has begun on a $4 billion first phase in unincorporated Cameron County near Rio Hondo, planned for as much as 1.5 GW. The county worksite permit covers site work; separate building permits remain required.
This is a working local record. Status reflects public announcements, filings, construction reports, and operating information available on the review date—not a guarantee that every proposed phase will be built.
State permit audit: Since September 21, 2026, TCEQ has paused data-center-related permit approvals while the ERCOT and Texas Water Development Board audits proceed. A filing, registration, or local approval does not establish that every required state authorization has been issued.
